Here at the Feet & BeautyMed, we work very closely with Langer UK to provide custom and ready made Orthotics.

How would I know I needed an Orthotic?

You would have pain or discomfort in your foot or lower leg, and you would know or suspect you have foot imbalance. Symptoms can include knee pain and/or lower back pain. What are Orthotics and what do they do?

Foot problems can have hereditary causes we often see members of the same family who suffer with the same or similar problems. An Orthotic (a.k.a insoles, foot beds, foot cradles, inner –soles etc.) is a medical device that supports, corrects and contains foot deformities allowing the foot to function.
When the feet make ground contact the way that contact is achieved has a mechanical affect through the lower leg, to the knees, the hips and then the lower back. By supporting the foot and correcting the position of the foot, painful foot problems may be avoided with enhanced foot function.

A Quick Guide to Orthotics

Functional insoles aim to prevent problematic motion in the joints of the feet by correcting or realigning the structural position of the foot. The insole is tailored to the individual foot, providing support where it is required, depending upon the functional demands. The support they provide means that standing, walking and running become less stressful and easier to perform.

Accommodative insoles are designed to accommodate the foot in a comfortable position without trying to correct any mal-alignments whilst preventing deformation. These are typically used for the rigid foot which is a result of conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.
